what a great video this is..i am completely new to owning a pressure cooker and youve made it so easy to learn x
I've used my Instant Pot Mini for years without an issue, then all of a sudden it has started the timer before the float valve has popped up. When this happens I can pull the lid up then push it down, and it will stay up with the pressure. I replaced the sealing ring and float valve seal, and yes both are installed correctly. The steam release handle is on correctly. The lid is completely clean with no food debris. And the pot has always had the correct amount of liquid when using it. I'm stumped and while I can continue to pull the lid up and then push it down to get the float valve to stay up, that defeats the point of setting and forgetting the whole cooking process. I've reached out to Instant Pot but all they suggested was for me to purchase a new unit, so basically they were unhelpful and just wanted me to spend more money.
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your Instant Pot Mini. Sounds like you've covered all the bases, and I'm assuming that you've done a water test. Unfortunately, I don't have any further suggestions for you, sorry!
@@PainttheKitchenRed Yes, I have done the water test. I've had this Instant Pot probably 7 or 8 years and it always worked fine, so yeah I'm stumped as to what the issue is. What I don't understand is that the timer starts even though the float valve doesn't pop up, so you'd think there isn't enough pressure and it wouldn't start the countdown. UPDATE: I just ran another water test with one cup of water in the Mini. The float valve popped up as it should and shortly after the timer started. So then I put the old sealing ring back in (yes, I kept it for some reason), ran the water test again and the float valve once again popped up and the timer started. This has me thinking that maybe I have not been using enough water when cooking. Normally it's spaghetti that I make with the Instant Pot and over the years I have been adding more ingredients, like carrots and other vegis, and sometimes Hot dogs with the meatballs. I wonder if maybe I have not been adjusting the water amount to the food. I guess I kept thinking that the marinara sauce compensated, but I hate to add too much water because then the spaghetti is soupy.
Yeah, they don't build things like they used to, it's almost like it's built to break down smh.
@@PainttheKitchenRed I tried making spaghetti again with more water, even put the old sealing ring back on. This time the float valve popped up on its own and stayed there, as the timer started counting down. So maybe what I needed was more water than I thought. I'll be keeping an eye on it with future cookings.
@@Resist4 strange that is started acting up after so many years, but I'm glad you got it to work.
If the locking pin is not allowing it to seal...how do I fix this "RARE" problem ( that is my problem but there were no hints to fix it)
The lid locking pin being stuck causes you to not be able to close the lid. If this happens, you should be able to just push it into place. Are you not able to do that? The only other thing I might suggest is to use a brush to clean the area and apply some oil to the area. If it's still giving you issues, you might need to contact the company.

My sealing ring was nasty i cleaned it and took a toothbrush and cleaned the race around the base of pot make sure it is dry no liquid on the seal i wrapped a paper towel around tooth brush and dried everything. And it worked thanks for the tip . Batch cooking with this machine has been a lifesaver and take care of it it lasts forever I'm glad i didn't need to replace anything check seal ring inside out and keep it clean and dry 😊

Can you move the inner pot from the stove directly to the Instant Pot or does it have to cool down first? Also, is the select button at the front loose?
Yes the inner pot can be moved to the stove directly. The knob in the front is very easily turned, so kinda loose.

@@PainttheKitchenRed Update: The other day I made my first chicken thighs (bone-in skin on) in the instant pot pro using sous vide!! Ice bath to cool, and and then seared them to make them yummier! OMG!! They're literally the best chicken I've EVER made!! =D Thanks again!
Is it safe to leave the pot with the vent valve on seal? Does it have an auto turn off feature if it gets too pressurized?
If you leave it on "seal", once the cooking time is done, the Instant Pot will slowly cool down and depressurize on its own. This is called a "natural release" and it's done for beans, meats, and other foods that benefit from a natural release. Please watch this video for more info on that. . The Instant Pot has lots of safety features that prevent it from being over-pressurized. I hope that helps!

This is not curry this is stew, you are missing coriander, cumin, multiple other necessary spices to call it a curry.
India has a variety of cuisines. In South India, where this dish is from, we have some curries with just turmeric, salt, and green chilies in coconut milk. No cumin or coriander. Any dish with a gravy can be referred to as a curry, but this dish is also called a stew.

While all of Neena's recipes are excellent, her Thai Yellow Curry is over the top. I enjoyed it so much that a supply of fresh curry leaves has just been ordered from Amazon. This delicious curry is definitely a 'keeper'.

Press Cancel first and then press soup or pressure cook.
Putting a towel over it is what cloggs ur vent.
Is this 8 or 6 qt
6 quart but 8 quart works the same.

So, I have a good one for you that happened tonight. My pot would not seal despite all the remedies suggested in your video. I finally got it. I took the lid off, and, remembering the seal ring had been cleaned, I flipped it over, where it fit almost identically, it seems, but whalla! It was sealed after that!

hi. I just found your channel and I have been binge watching your instant pot recipe videos :) This definitely helped to make a decision to go ahead with instant pot duo crisp with airfryer. A quick question - can you air fry using two levels at same time(the basket and the stainless steel rack)?
If you're talking about the air fryer basket with the stainless steel insert (with the holes), I find it hard to use both levels because it's not that easy to lift the top level out.

I made this and I really like it but I screwed it up! I ended up adding the pasta before adding the sausage and chicken. I just put the proteins on top of the noodles and when it was done and I stirred it the noodles weren't their best but it was still very good! I have one serving of this left and next time I'll not mess it up like I did this time! Thanks for another great recipe!!! My very very best to you and yours!!!!
Thank you for your comment. It shouldn't have made a huge difference. I just do it because the pasta could cause a burn message if put on the bottom.
Success! I used long grain brown rice with equal part salted chicken broth. set it to 22 mins with 15 minutes natural release and it was perfect! I was a little worried that the fat or salt in the chicken broth would mess it up but it didn't. Hope you post a Hainanese chicken and rice recipe sometime because that's essentially what I made ❤️

You can, but I tend to use the pressure cooking lid to prevent heat loss.
Question: do I cook in high pressure or low pressure?
Some people use the rice button to cook rice and that is low pressure. I prefer to use this recipe which is high pressure. Thanks for the question.
This looks so good, though in my case I'd have to omit all of the dairy. I've been fighting a cold and sinus thing for a few days but I'll give this one a try possibly tomorrow! Thanks! So you answered my question I was looking for for some time. You didn't really specify but did cover it. I am an amateur mycology fanatic and have been searching how to set high pressure for sterilizing grain for 2.5 hrs. I feel like I have used every button on this thing a hundred times. I want to sterilize so I always set my pressure cooker to sterilize. WRONG! THE CUSTOM pressure cooker allows me to set the custom time for what ever time I want. I have just been baby sitting it and resting it every half hour till I hit my 2.5 hours. Thanks a lot for detailing the functions of this simple machine. If you are a UA-camr and want video hits because I have looked trust me. Really Good! The macaroni is so flavorful and perfectly cooked that I'm thinking of using it as a base for a cold seafood salad. I shredded an 8 oz block of cheddar for the mac & cheese and the final result was much better than the box or frozen stuff.

I make this for my teenage daughters weekly and they love it!! Just tons of veggies in the curry for about 1-2 mins with a quick release. I pan fry some tofu to add on top. You did a fantastic job of explaining and demonstrating. Thank you so much 🤩
